Slaiya, another very popular brand in the Sous Vide equipment realm has decided to join the party.
And how well executed was their entry?
This review will do its best to show you that!
Before starting, I just want to remind everyone that competition is really tight in this sphere.
For example, consider the fact that the model from Forsous, which we had also reviewed has a power output of 800 Watts.
What did Slaiya do? Create one that does it even better, now standing at 850 Watts.
You would be surprised at all the guerilla tactics and partisan battles being fought between companies but that is good for us, the consumer, as only the best ones get pushed to the top!
What I Liked About The Slaiya Digital
1) A Breath Of Fresh Air
A Sous Vide machine with an immersion circulator? I have to take a closer look at that!
That was my first reaction when I heard about this new model that came into town.
And boy was I satisfied, as this crafty piece of technology kept the water warm at all times.
I was very pleased with the method being used.
Although an unconventional one, so long as it works, more power to me!
2) Big Numbers On The Control Screen
God yes, this company has nailed it with their control screen.
There is nothing worse than having to squint your eyes while trying to get a reading on this thing.
Boy was I glad that at least someone understood what their consumer needs; Simplicity!
I mean sure, you can have thirteen hundred different option but if it is visually displeasing then it will amount to nothing as nobody will want to use it.
3) Control Your Temperature Very Precisely
This is what I like to hear!
I’m a perfectionist at heart and when I reckon that something is off in even the slightest bit, I just HAVE to fix it.
This suvee machine allows me to do so as I was able to scale the temperature at an accuracy of +/- 0,1 degree Celsius.
Let’s not forget to mention the fact that one also has huge control of the range in temperature, between 25-99 degrees Celsius, to be perfectly frank.
This really allowed me to cook all kinds of food inside my pot, making me very happy as I could keep it as versatile as I wanted it to!
4) It’s ETL Listed
Normally, I wouldn’t pay much attention to some stupid listings or badgets but listen up folks, this one matter and I will tell you why shortly.
You see, because the Sous Vide Equipment business is growing by the day, many try and push their product even if it isn’t polished.
That means that you could potentially burn (pun intended) yourself on your purchase as you aren’t really sure what you are getting.
It’s not like Sous Vide cooking is that popular as of yet and that is why you always have to do your due diligence.
Or do we?
At ETL listing basically ensures that the machine has been tested independently by an objective observer and that it satisfies all of the specifications it claims to do!
This was a huge confidence booster for me. It was that little listing that actually made me buy the thing.
What Could Be Improved Upon
1) I Didn’t Like The Way It Fit In My Hands
Grabbing the thing just felt unintuitive.
Maneuvering it around wasn’t really something that I could do mindlessly and I need quite some time to ‘learn’ to do things on autopilot.
I think that the handle and therefore the design isn’t really what it should be.
I believe that it could be improved upon by maybe making it a bit narrower?
I’m not sure and that is not my problem, just something that definitely needs a closer look at.
Let’s not get ahead of ourselves, this is a really cool model despite the fact that design doesn’t seem to be the companies strong side.
Considering the fact that they are actually marketing a Sous Vide Immersion Circulator and that they are quite successful at it speaks a lot about the quality of the product.
Let’s do a little recap: A powerful, 850 Watt output, a control screen where you can actually see the numbers being displayed and an unconventional but very effective method of getting your water ready.
All in all, I’m very happy with this model and every time I’m using it at home, I know that it won’t fail me so I would definitely recommend it to everyone currently reading this!
